How to Clean White Shoes

How to clean white shoes carefully.
How to clean white shoes carefully and thoroughly. Because white shoes are the easiest to get dirty, knowing how to clean them properly is important. Now, you might be thinking "Cleaning white shoes is simple. Just use soap and water." Although cleaning white shoes is indeed simple, you may need to have a little more than just soap and water in your tool belt. If you are like me, you want your white shoes to stay looking new. Also you want the tent of white to be even across both shoes. So, here are a few tips and products you can utilize to clean and maintain that bright white color on your darling white shoes.

Number One Rule of Thumb:
NEVER USE BLEACH
Depending on the material your shoes are made of the use of bleach can actually cause discoloration, leaving your shoes with a yellowish coating on them.

Now that we've gotten the ultimate no, no out of the way. Here are the proper cleaning supplies you will need to clean your white shoes.

1. warm water
2. an old toothbrush
3. toothpaste (with baking soda added)
4. a rag or sponge
An alternative to using the toothpaste would be to mix the warm water with a mild dish detergent mixed with a tablespoon of baking soda. Once you have all these things in place, begin by taking the rag and wiping any loose dirt from your shoes. Then dip your toothbrush into the warm water (or water mixture) and dab just a bit of the toothpaste onto the toothbrush. Now, take the toothbrush and with slight pressure scrub the entirety of your white shoe with the toothbrush using circular motions.
Once both shoes are evenly clean take your rag and give your white shoes one last wipe down.

If you use this simple way to clean your shoes, they are sure to become white in no time! And always remember..... NO BLEACH!
